Research interest:
Dr Zhang’s research is focused on developing molecular, prognostic
and therapeutic approaches to improve the care for patients with
lung cancer, colorectal cancer and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. His
research interest also includes supportive care such as therapy of
cancer induced anemia (CIA) and treatment of bone metastases with
bisphosphonate. He is currently a member of the NCCN Clinical
Practice Guidelines in Oncology™ (Chinese Version) Lung Cancer,
Colon/Rectal Cancer and Head and Neck Cancer Panel. He has been
extensively involved in many Phase I/II studies of novel anticancer
agents and international phase III trials. Now, he is also a GLOBE
principle investigator (PI) and steering committee member of several
randomized phase III clinical trials.
Dr Zhang has published more than 100 clinical research papers in
peer review journals such as Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet
Oncology, Cancer, Cancer Gene Therapy, Journal Thoracic Oncology,
Lung Cancer, Cancer Chemotherapy and Pharmacology, Oncology,
Clinical Lung Cancer and Medical Oncology.
Dr Zhang also presented abstracts to many major congresses like ASCO,
AACR, WCLC, ESMO meetings. Besides a heavy patient caseload in his
department, Dr. Zhang is a frequent lecturer in many domestic and
international congresses, like Chinese Society for Clinical Oncology
(CSCO), Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), Chinese Conference
on Medical Oncology (CCMO) and Chinese Society of Lung Cancer annual
meeting, WCLC, APLCC. He now works as a senior consultant at the
Centre of Drug Evaluation (CDE) of State Food and Drug
Administration (SFDA) in China. Dr Zhang is the drafter of “SFDA
guidance for industry: clinical trials for the approval of
anticancer drugs and biologicals (Second Version, 2006).”
